A too-short dress over pants really is such a brilliant solution! I have been seeing the transparent(ish) dresses over pants and feeling very inspired even though I don’t have a transparent(ish) dress. At any rate, I would like to try!! Did jeans feel bulky underneath? I thought of trying silk pants to accommodate but it doesn’t have the same carefree vibe.
Count me in, especially with those inspo pictures of yours! I have a mini dress I could do with wide leg pants! Brings me back to sixth grade too but worth a try!
This is one of my favorite trends to have come back. It makes me feel a little bit like Lizzie McGuire but I'm not mad about it. Not one bit. Loved your inspo and the way you brought it all to life!
That first Pinterest image! I'm going all in on sheer and wore my brand new-to-me sheer dress over a bralette and bike shorts (and under a sweater because San Francisco). I don't know if I can make the pants/dress combo happen because I wore it the first time around, but never say never :) I also like where your Zara dress is going, there's something about the drape of the crochet over denim that's so intriguing.
Oh, I did this trend back in 2008-2009 too (I've always been a bit behind the trends....or REALLY in front of them, lol, whichever makes me look like I know what I'm doing!), Stephanie!
I enjoyed your styling of difficult dresses that you actually have in your wardrobe - I think your inclination to do a bit of asymmetrical tucking/bunching is right on target. I like the wide-legged trousers with it - it looks really good - and note that the top halves are more light/bare to balance the wide/visually heavy bottoms in your inspo pics.
Sheila tysm for the kind words as always!! Sounds like you're always way ahead of the trends to me! And it means the world that my very amateur styling resonated with you!
I’m really really deeply into this look. And actually I made myself into a liar because I bought a dress for an upcoming vacation and it was sheer and I did buy a slip. BUT I’m also picturing wearing it over jeans. You’ve got your finger on the pulse!!!

Ooo silk pants sounds so smart!! They didn’t actually! Maybe because my dress was so short?

Would love to see how you style this!!

Lizzie is a forever icon!!!
Been there, done that — and let’s be real, I’ll probably do it again
I support it!!

Would love to see how that looks! Love the idea of bike shorts and I agree that first Pinterest image is goals!
It's so good - you might convince me on dresses over pants yet :)

Such a fun article, thank you!

We’re all amateurs! But we keep trying and learning, that’s the key to style. 💕
